SCRAP QUILT WORKSHOP REQUIREMENTS
Fabric scraps –
these can be mixed, or brights, or Christmas, or sorted into colours, all
florals etc. Size and length is
unimportant but need to be no less than 1inch wide.
Fine fabric in white
or cream to use as a foundation – this can be an old sheet, muslin or
calico. You will be sewing strips onto
this to make one of the block types. In
case you want to make several blocks of this type please make sure you have
enough foundation with you.
Wadding- small
pieces a minimum of 8 ½ inches square.
If you intend to make several of your blocks or strips into a larger
quilt there will not be time to quilt and layer up at the workshop so you may
not need very large pieces of wadding.
Lace scraps and
lengths of lace if you wish (optional)
Trims such as ric
rac braid (optional)
Larger pieces of
fabric for backing, sashing and binding to tone or contrast with your scrap
blocks. I suggest black or white is also
very useful as a highlight fabric.
If you wish bring printed printed panels, or fabric with
printed picture blocks such as those used to make Christmas cards.
Sewing machine, cutting mat, rulers and squares, rotary cutter, sewing threads, scissors, needles etc
